It's no secret we get some big down pours in the mid north coast, and it's no secret that it tends to cause problems when you're not properly set up for it. A few things I'd recommend doing now to avoid problems later -

1. CHECK TREES

If you have trees above the house, check your gutters every 6 months. It’s worth setting a reminder in your calendar.

2. FLUSH

If you have a first flush charged system, it is good to flush the system if it hasn’t rained for 2 months. This eliminates stagnant water.

3. DEBRIS

Clear out storm water pits. If you don’t have any, consider installing storm water pits or leaf catchers under your gutters. These are designed to reduce sticks and leaves entering and blocking up your pipes. Below is an example of leaf catchers Salty Dog added to all the downpipes on a home with high rainfall in NSW Mid North Coast.
